Agency Nexus in your AI assistant

Agency Nexus has a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, so the AI assistant you already use can work with your agency's records: find clients and policies, see what renews soon, review claims and certificates, and prepare changes that you confirm before anything is saved.

What it does

The connector lets an AI assistant read and work with your agency's records in Agency Nexus, with your access and your confirmation. It is for agency staff: owners, producers, account managers and CSRs.

  • Ask about your book. Clients, policies, upcoming renewals, claims, certificates of insurance, ACORD forms, tasks, notes, CRM opportunities and reports.
  • Get work done. Create tasks and notes, record a claim, prepare a renewal, draft a certificate or an ACORD form, move an opportunity, and update client and policy records.
  • Prepare messages. Emails, text messages, signature requests and certificates for clients, carriers or signers are prepared from the assistant, then reviewed and sent from Agency Nexus.

Before you connect

  • An Agency Nexus account at an agency.
  • AI assistant access turned on for your agency. An owner or administrator does this once, on the MCP page in the Agency Nexus menu or in Settings › Integrations.
  • An AI assistant that supports MCP connectors, such as ChatGPT or Claude.

Connecting your assistant

Each person connects their own assistant. When Agency Nexus appears in your assistant's directory of plugins or connectors, add it from there. Until then, add it as a custom connector with this address: https://mcp.agencynexus.io/mcp.

  • Claude: Customize › Connectors › Add custom connector, and paste the address.
  • ChatGPT, Grok and Cursor: add a new connector or MCP server in the assistant's settings, and paste the address.

The assistant opens the Agency Nexus sign-in. Sign in with your Agency Nexus account, then choose on the consent screen which permissions the assistant receives. Read permissions are selected; permissions to make changes are not, unless you select them.

Things to ask

  • “Which of my clients' policies expire in the next 30 days?”
  • “Give me a summary of Sunshine Roofing: policies, open claims and tasks.”
  • “What is the status of the open claim for Sunshine Roofing?”
  • “Create a task to call Gulf Coast Dental about their renewal tomorrow.”
  • “Draft a certificate of insurance for Palm Harbor Logistics, with Acme Warehousing as holder.”

The names are examples. Use your own clients, policies and carriers.

Permissions and your access

The assistant acts with your access, never more: it sees only the clients and policies you can already see in Agency Nexus, within the permissions you approved. You can grant read access alone, and your agency can turn off specific tools for everyone.

How changes are confirmed

The assistant cannot change anything on its own. Every change it proposes is shown to you first, and nothing is saved until you confirm it:

  • In the chat, when your assistant shows confirmation forms, as ChatGPT and Claude do.
  • In Agency Nexus, when it does not: the assistant gives you a link to review and approve the change.
  • Messages to anyone outside the agency — an email, a text message, a certificate, a signature request, a carrier submission — always open a review screen in Agency Nexus and are sent from there, never directly from the chat.

Records cannot be deleted through the assistant. They are archived, with your confirmation.

What the assistant never receives

Some fields are withheld from every result, including dates of birth and tax identifiers (FEIN). Premium amounts are returned only by the tools for amounts, and only if you approved that permission. No tool moves money: payments and commissions are recorded, not transferred. How your assistant's provider handles what it receives is covered by your agreement with that provider; how we handle it is in the Privacy Policy.

Disconnecting

You, or an administrator of your agency, can revoke a connection at any time on the MCP page in Agency Nexus. The assistant loses access on its next request. An administrator can also turn off AI assistant access for the whole agency.

Troubleshooting

  • “AI assistant access is turned off for this agency.” An owner or administrator has to turn it on first, on the MCP page in the Agency Nexus menu or in Settings › Integrations.
  • “This client asked for access that is not available in this agency.” The permissions the assistant asked for are not enabled for your agency. An owner or administrator controls them in Settings › Integrations.
  • The assistant can read but says it cannot make changes. Change permissions were not selected when you connected. Disconnect, connect again and select them on the consent screen.
  • The assistant gives you a link and says the change is awaiting approval. Your assistant cannot show confirmation forms, so the change waits in Agency Nexus. Open the link, review and approve it, then go back to the chat.
  • A message, certificate or signature request was not sent. These are never sent from the chat. Open the review link the assistant gives you and send it from Agency Nexus.
  • The assistant stopped working with Agency Nexus. The connection was revoked, AI assistant access was turned off for the agency, or your account is no longer active. Ask your administrator, then connect again.
